BADAR
& Prophet (s) cursed them
Bukhari Volume 5, Book 64,
Number 3976:
Narrated Abu Talha:
On the day of Badar, the Prophet (s) ordered that the
corpses of twenty four leaders of Quraish should be thrown into one of the
dirty dry wells of Badar. (It was a habit of the Prophet that whenever he
conquered some people, he used to stay at the battle-field for three nights.
So, on the third day of the battle of Badar, he ordered that his she-camel be
saddled, then he set out, and his companions followed him saying among
them." "Definitely he (i.e. the Prophet) is proceeding for some great
purpose." When he halted at the edge of the well, he addressed the corpses
of the Quraish infidels by their names and their fathers' names, "O
so-and-so, son of so-and-so and O so-and-so, son of so-and-so! Would it have
pleased you if you had obeyed Allah and His Apostle? We have found true what
our Lord promised us. Have you too found true what your Lord promised you?
"'Umar said, "O Allah's Apostle! You are speaking to bodies that have
no souls!" Allah's Apostle said, "By Him in Whose Hand Muhammad's
soul is, you do not hear, what I say better than they do."
Qatada said, "Allah brought them to life
(again) to let them hear him, to reprimand them and slight them and take
revenge over them and caused them to feel remorseful and regretful."
(2) Death of Umaiyya Bin Khalaf
Note: Bilal killing Ummaiya bin Khalaf who had unleashed cruel tortures on him when Bilal accepted Islam in Makkah, Bilal was Ummaiya’s slave, till he was manumitted by Abu Bakar.
(2) CHAPTER. If a Muslim deputizes a non-Muslim warrior in a country of infidelity or in a Muslim state, the contract is valid. (This is about the contract between 'Abdur-Rahman bin 'Auf and Umaiya bin Khalaf)
Bukhari Volume 3, Book 40,
Number 2301:
Narrated 'Abdur-Rahman bin 'Auf:
I got an agreement written between me and Umaiyya bin Khalaf
that Umaiyya would look after my property (or family) in Mecca and I would look
after his in Medina. When I mentioned the word 'Ar-Rahman' in the documents,
Umaiyya said, "I do not know 'Ar-Rahman.' Write down to me your name,
(with which you called yourself) in the Pre-lslamic Period of Ignorance."
So, I wrote my name ' 'Abdu 'Amr'. On the day (of the battle) of Badar, when
all the people went to sleep, I went up the hill to protect him. Bilal saw him
(i.e. Umaiyya) and went to a gathering of Ansar and said, "(Here is)
Umaiya bin Khalaf! Woe to me if he escapes!" So, a group of Ansar went out
with Bilal to follow us ('Abdur-Rahman and Umaiya). Being afraid that they
would catch us, I left Umaiyya's son for them to keep them busy but the Ansar
killed the son and insisted on following us. Umaiyya was a fat man, and when
they approached us, I told him to kneel down, and he knelt, and I laid myself
on him to protect him, but the Ansar killed him by passing their swords
underneath me, and one of them injured my foot with his sword. (The sub
narrator said, " 'Abdur-Rahman used to show us the trace of the wound on
the back of his foot.")
Translator’s Note 1: Umaiyya used to torture Bilal
severely when he was in Makkah because he had embraced Islam.
(3) Badar duel 1to1 before actual battle
Before the pitched Battle of Badar, as per custom,
one to one dual was fought between Hamza, 'Ali,
Abu 'Ubaida bin Al-Harith from

said, "The following Verse was revealed in their connection:
"These two opponents believers and disbelievers)
Dispute with each other about their Lord." (22.19) Qais said that they

worshipped after today." Abu Bakr caught him by the hand and said,
"This is sufficient, O Allah's Apostle! You have asked Allah pressingly."
The Prophet was clad in his armor at that time. He went out, saying to me:
"There multitude will be put to flight and they will show their backs.
Nay, but the Hour is their appointed time (for their full recompense) and that
Hour will be more grievous and bitterer (than their worldly failure)."

believer. (See Qur'an 2:249)
Bukhari Volume 5, Book 64,
Number 3958:
Narrated Al-Bara:
We, the Companions of Muhammad (s) used to say that the
number of the warriors of Badar was the same as the number of Saul's

Narrated 'Abdur-Rahman bin 'Auf:
While I was standing in the row on the day (of the
battle) of Badar, I looked to my right and my left and saw two young Ansari
boys, and I
wished I had been stronger than they. One of them called my attention saying, "O Uncle! Do you know Abu Jahal?" I said,
"Yes, What you want from him, O my nephew?" He said, "I have
been informed that he abuses Allah's Apostle (s). By Him in Whose Hands my life
is, if I should see him, then my body will not leave his body till either of us
meets his fate." I was astonished at that talk. Then the other boy called
my attention saying the same as the other had said. After a while I saw Abu
Jahal walking amongst the people. I said (to the boys), "Look! This is the
man you asked me about." So, both of them attacked him with their swords
and struck him to death and returned to Allah's Apostle (s) to inform him of
that. Allah's Apostle (s) asked, "Which of you has killed
him?" Each of them said, "I Have killed him." Allah's Apostle
(s) asked, "Have you cleaned your swords?" They said, "No. “He
(s) then looked at their swords and said, "No doubt, you both have killed
him and the spoils of the deceased will be given to Muadh bin Amr bin
Al-Jamuh." The two boys were Muadh bin 'Afra and Muadh bin Amr bin
Al-Jamuh.
(8) Honor given to companions fought in Badar

to know its written contents and the meanings of its subject which is not
allowed for the Muslims to look at.
Bukhari Volume 8, Book 79,

Narrated
'Ali:
Allah's
Apostle (s) sent me, Az-Zubair bin Al-Awwam and Abu Marthad Al-Ghanawi, and all
of us were horsemen, and he said, "Proceed till you reach Rawdat Khakh,
where there is a woman from the pagans carrying a letter sent by Hatib bin Abi
Balta'a to the pagans (of Mecca)." So we overtook her while she was
proceeding on her camel at the same place as Allah's Apostle told us. We said
(to her) "Where is the letter which is with you?" She said, "I
have no letter with me." So we made her camel kneel down and searched her
mount (baggage etc) but could not find anything. My two companions said,
"We do not see any letter." I said, "I know that Allah's Apostle
(s) did not tell a lie. By Allah, if you (the lady) do not bring out the
letter, I will strip you of your clothes' When she noticed that I was serious,
she put her hand into the knot of her waist sheet, for she was tying a sheet
round herself, and brought out the letter. So we proceeded to Allah's Apostle
(s) with the letter. The Prophet said (to Habib), "What made you o what
you have done, O Hatib?" Hatib replied, "I have done nothing except
that I believe in Allah and His Apostle, and I have not changed or altered (my
religion). But I wanted to do the favor to the people (pagans of Mecca) through
which Allah might protect my family and my property, as there is none among
your companions but has someone in Mecca through whom Allah protects his
property (against harm). The Prophet (s) said, "Habib has told you the
truth, so do not say to him (anything) but good." 'Umar bin Al-Khattab
said, "Verily he has betrayed Allah, His Apostle, and the believers! Allow
me to chop his neck off!" The Prophet said, "O 'Umar! What do you
know; perhaps Allah looked upon the Badar warriors and
said, 'Do whatever you like, for I have ordained that you will be in Paradise.'"
On that 'Umar wept and said, "Allah and His Apostle know best."

When it was the day (of the battle) of Badar, prisoners of
war were brought including Al-Abbas who was undressed. The Prophet (s) looked
for a shirt for him. It was found that the shirt of 'Abdullah bin Ubai would
do, so the Prophet(s) let him wear it. That was the reason why the Prophet (s)
took off and gave his own shirt to 'Abdullah. (The narrator adds, "He had
done the Prophet (s) some favor for which the Prophet (s) liked to reward
him.") [see Hadis 1270, 1350]

Umaiyya himself used to stay at Sa'd's house when he passed by Medina on his
way to Sham. Umaiyya said to Sad, "Will you wait till midday when the
people are (at their homes), then you may go and perform the Tawaf round the
Ka'ba?" So, while Sad was going around the Ka'ba, Abu Jahl came and asked,
"Who is that who is performing Tawaf?" Sad replied, "I am
Sad." Abu Jahl said, "Are you circumambulating the Ka'ba safely
although you have given refuge to Muhammad and his companions?" Sad said,
"Yes," and they started quarreling. Umaiyya said to Sad, "Don't shout
at Abi-l-Hakam (i.e. Abu Jahl), for he is chief of the valley (of Mecca)."
Sad then said (to Abu Jahl). 'By Allah, if you prevent me from performing the
Tawaf of the Ka'ba, I will spoil your trade with Sham." Umaiyya kept on
saying to Sad, "Don't raise your voice." and kept on taking hold of
him. Sad became furious and said, (to Umaiyya), "Be away from me, for I
have heard Muhammad saying that he will kill you." Umaiiyya said,
"Will he kill me?" Sad said, "Yes,." Umaiyya said, "By
Allah! When Muhammad says a thing, he never tells a lie." Umaiyya went to
his wife and said to her, "Do you know what my brother from Yathrib (i.e.
Medina) has said to me?" She said, "What has he said?" He said,
"He claims that he has heard Muhammad claiming that he will kill me."
She said, By Allah! Muhammad never tells a lie." So when the infidels started to proceed for Badar
(Battle) and declared war (against the Muslims), his wife said to him,
"Don't you remember what your brother from Yathrib told you?" Umaiyya
decided not to go but Abu Jahl said to him, "You are from the nobles of
the valley of Mecca), so you should accompany us for a day or two." He
went with them and thus Allah got him killed.

similar to the reward and the share of one who has taken part in the Badar
battle."
Wife rights look after – Preferred over Jihad
Bukhari Volume 3, Book 28, Number 1862:

The Prophet (s) said, "A woman should not travel except with a Dhu-Mahram (her husband or a man with whom that woman cannot marry at all according to the Islamic Jurisprudence), and no man may visit her except in the presence of a Dhu-Mahram." A man got up and said, "O Allah's Apostle! I intend to go to such and such an army and my wife wants to perform Hajj." The Prophet (s) said (to him), "Go along with her (to Hajj)."
