CORRECT BEHAVIOR
DRESS CODE
INTRODUCTION: Preconditions to attain real SUCCESS both here and hereafter and guard against total LOSS are clearly laid down in Surah Asar (1) By the (token of) Time! (2) Man is surely in loss, (3) 1illā Except alladhīna those who āmanū believe waʿamilū and do l-ṣāliḥāti righteous deeds. Righteous deeds here in Surah Asar are expressed in a blanket term for complete conduct, behavior, and way of life of a believer to guard against khus'rin loss. This concept with its broad connotation is expressed here with the English phrase the “Correct Behavior” for a better understanding of the topic covering a vast spectrum of human life. It is of paramount importance to learn these parameters laid by the Creator Allah (swt) for “Correct Behavior” of the individual being the foundation of a pious society, lucidly elaborated by Prophet (pbuh) through his comprehensive Sunnah.

said, "While a man was walking, dragging his dress with pride, he was
caused to be swallowed by the earth and will go on sinking in it till the Day
of Resurrection."

That Allah's
Apostle (s) said,
"Allah will not look on the Day of Judgment at him who drags his robe (behind
him) out of pride." Abu Bakr said "One side of my robe slacks down
unless I get very cautious about it." Allah's Apostle (s) said, "But you do not do that with a
pride”. [Volume 7 No 5784]

That he had seen Um Kulthum, the daughter
of Allah's Apostle, wearing a red silk garment.

Allah's Apostle
(s) offered prayer while he was wearing a Khamisa of his that had printed
marks. He looked at its marks and when he finished prayer, he (s) said,
"Take this Khamisa of mine to Abu Jahm, for it has just now diverted my
attention from my prayer, and bring to me the Anbijania (a plain thick sheet)
of Abu Jahm bin Hudhaifa bin Ghanim who belonged to Bani Adi bin
Ka'b."

CHAPTER. The black Klwmisa;
Bukhari Volume 7, Book 77, Number 5823:
Narrated Um
Khalid bint Khalid:
The Prophet (s) was given some clothes including a black
Khamisa. The Prophet (s) said,
"To whom shall we give this to wear?" The people kept silent
whereupon the Prophet (s) said,
"Fetch Um Khalid for me." I (Um Khalid) was brought carried (as I was
small girl at that time). The Prophet (s) took
the Khamisa in his hands and made me wear it and said, "May you live so
long that your dress will wear out and you will mend it many times”. On the
Khamisa there were some green or pale designs (The Prophet saw these designs)
and said, "O Um Khalid! This is Sanah" (Sanah in an Ethiopian word
meaning beautiful).
(4) Silk disallowed for men & allowance

Bukhari Volume 7, Book 77, Number 5828:
Narrated
Aba 'Uthman An-Nahdi:
While
we were with 'Utba bin Farqad at Adharbijan, there came 'Umar's letter
indicating that Allah's Apostle (s) had forbidden the use of silk except this
much, then he pointed with his index and middle
fingers. To our knowledge, by that he meant embroidery.
(5) Silk allowed in emergency
Bukhari Volume 4, Book 56, Number 2919:
Narrated Anas:
The Prophet (s)
allowed 'Abdur-Rahman bin 'Auf and Az-Zubair to wear silken shirts because they
had a skin disease causing itching.

allowed Az-Zubair and 'Abdur-Rahman to wear silk because they were suffering
from an itch.

In the year of
the conquest of Mecca, the Prophet (s) entered Mecca, wearing a helmet on his
head.

said, "Whoever cannot get an Izar, can wear trousers, and whoever cannot
