 (1) Usman’s siege & peaceful approach on 
question of leading Salah

(56) CHAPTER. Offering prayers behind a man who is a victim of Al-Fitan (trials and afflictions) or a heretic

Al-Hasan said, "You can offer prayers behind that Imam and the sin of heresy will be against him."

Bukhari Volume 1, Book 10, Number 695:

Narrated 'Ubaid-Ullãh bin Adi bin Khiyar :

I went to 'Uthman bin 'Affãn while he was besieged, and said to him, "You are the chief of all Muslims in general and you see what has befallen you. We are led in the Salat (prayer) by a leader of Al-Fitan (trials and afflictions etc.) and we are afraid of being sinful in following him." 'Uthman said, "As-Salat (the prayers) is the best of all deeds so when the people do good deeds do the same with them and when they do bad deeds, avoid those bad deeds." Az-Zuhri said, "In our opinion one should not offer Salat behind an effeminate person unless there is no alternative."

(2) Tinge of complain in hearts of
companions 
of Prophet (s)

Bukhari Volume 4, Book 59, Number 3267: [7098 Volume 9]

Narrated Abu Wail:

Somebody said to Osama, "Will you go to so-and-so (i.e. 'Uthman) and talk to him (i.e. advise him regarding ruling the country)?" He said, "You see that I don't talk to him. Really I talk to (advise) him secretly without opening a gate (of affliction), for neither do I want to be the first to open it (i.e. rebellion), nor will I say to a man who is my ruler that he is the best of all the people after I have heard something from Allah s Apostle (s) ." They said what have you heard him saying? He said, "I have heard him saying, "A man will be brought on the Day of Resurrection and thrown in the (Hell) Fire, so that his intestines will come out, and he will go around like a donkey goes around a millstone. The people of (Hell) Fire will gather around him and say: O so-and-so! What is wrong with you? Didn't you use to order us to do good deeds and forbid us to do bad deeds? He will reply: Yes, I used to order you to do good deeds, but I did not do them myself, and I used to forbid you to do bad deeds, yet I used to do them myself." [See 7098, Volume 9]

(3) Usman asked for favors same as given to
Bani Hashim 
& Bani Muttalib 
Prophet (s) denied    

Bukhari Volume 4, Book 61, Number 3502-3603:

Narrated Jubair bin Mut'im:

'Uthman bin Affan went (to the Prophet) and said, "O Allah's Apostle! You gave property to Bani Al-Muttalib and did not give us, although we and they are of the same degree of relationship to you." The Prophet (s) said, "Only Bani Hashim and Bani Al Muttalib are one thing (as regards family status)."

Narrated Urwa bin Az-Zubair: 'Abdullah bin Az-Zubair went with some women of the tribe of Bani Zuhra to 'Aisha who used to treat them nicely because of their relation to Allah's Apostle.

 (4) Usman missed Battle of Badar wife seriously
sick allowed by Prophet (s)

(14) CHAPTER. If the Imam sends some messenger to carry out a certain duty, or orders one to stay at home (by virtue of which he does not join the battle), will he be given a share from the booty

Bukhari Volume 4, Book 57, Number 3130:

Narrated Ibn 'Umar:

'Uthman did not join the Badar battle because he was married to one of the daughters of Allah's Apostle (s) and she was ill. So, the Prophet (s) said to him. "You will get a reward and a share (from the war booty) similar to the reward and the share of one who has taken part in the Badar battle."

Wife rights & look after – Preferred over Jihad

Bukhari Volume 3, Book 28, Number 1862:

Narrated Ibn 'Abbas:

The Prophet (s) said, "A woman should not travel except with a Dhu-Mahram (her husband or a man with whom that woman cannot marry at all according to the Islamic Jurisprudence), and no man may visit her except in the presence of a Dhu-Mahram." A man got up and said, "O Allah's Apostle! I intend to go to such and such an army and my wife wants to perform Hajj." The Prophet (s) said (to him), "Go along with her (to Hajj)." (3006)

(5) Usman Prophet’s son in law faced sever 
persecution 
migrated twice for
the cause of Islam

Bukhari Volume 5, Book 63, Number 3927:

Narrated 'Ubaidullah bin Ad bin Khiyair:

I went to Uthman. After reciting Tashah-hud, he said; "then after no doubt, Allah sent Muhammad (s) with the Truth, and I was amongst those who responded to the Call of Allah and His Prophet (s) and believed in the message of Muhammad (s), then took part in the two migrations. I became the son-in-law of Allah's Apostle (s) and gave the pledge of allegiance to him By Allah, I never disobeyed him, nor did I deceive him till Allah took him unto Him."
