Slide covering youtube lecture 2

SAVE TOMORROW - 3

The only hope to have a better tomorrow is to educate our coming generations especially to let them have open minds an end to myopia eating at the delicate fiber of humanity.

We are starting a series of lectures for O level students on Youtube; this blog is also going to support this endeavor

Assessment
  • In each paper Question 1 requires relatively
short answers for a maximum of 8 marks and the other three Questions require essay length answers for a maximum of 14 marks each. [Important Note 1: It clearly visible from the marks distribution for question 1 and others that question 1 of both papers will require little more than half the time to be planned for essay length question]
  • The form of assessment has been changed from a points system, in which 1 mark was awarded for each relevant point made in an answer, to a levels system, in which the candidate’s overall response to the part of the question being answered is marked according to a series of levels to reflect its completeness and quality.
  • The grids containing the levels of response for each part question and the criteria that determine these levels and the accompanying marks are shown at the beginning of this syllabus.
  • This change means that Examiners will now be assessing descriptive answers on the comprehensiveness, relevance and accuracy of the facts they contain rather than on the separate points they include, and will be assessing evaluative answers according to the depth of understanding that is demonstrated, and ability to provide insights about putting key teachings of Islam into practice.

[See note 1 above]

[Note 2: See the table given from the syllabus for understanding “levels system”]

         IMPORTANT POINT TO NOTE

Must remember if any Hadis has TWO distinct parts, e.g. 1st Hadis,

“Religion is sincerity……..” in which 1st part is dealing with “Haqooq Allah”, i.e. Allah, [Tuhid] Kitab, [Quran, Kalam Allah] 9:6,... …..2:2] Rassool, [prophet(s) (33:40)]
Where as latter part deals with “Haqooq-al-Abad”, i.e. “Aaima”, amir, Leader [Ati Allah wa Ati –ur- Rassool wa ati-ullal-Amar, 4:59] common people [49:13, Surah Maoon]
In such cases DIVIDE answer into TWO parts FOR EACH PART “a” and part “b” e.g.

Q.1. Choose any two of the following Hadiths, and:
      a. describe their teachings about what Muslims believe.  [4]
(Note: Exact wordings of the syllabus-ONLY “a”)
In this all the Ahadis answer to “a” above 1st paragraph WILL be explaining, e.g. 3 BELIEFS (NOTE: Number of BELIEFS might differ in each Hadis, why?) For this Hadis now the 2nd paragraph will explain about “Haqooq-al-Abad” talked about in this Hadis i.e. let’s see you telling which BELIEFS will be explained in this 2nd paragraph?

In this all the Ahadis answer to “a” above 1st paragraph WILL be explaining, e.g. 3 BELIEFS (NOTE: Number of BELIEFS might differ in each Hadis, why?) Same way the answer to part “b”
  1. b.   Explain how Muslims can put these teachings into action. [4]
(Note: Exact wordings of the syllabus)

Will also have TWO paragraphs each explaining practices related in BELIEFS in 1st paragraph of “a” above, about…… [Let’s see your response] in 2nd paragraph of practices related 2nd paragraph “a” above, about …… [Let’s see your response]

MOST IMPORTANT POINT TO NOTE IS THAT THE REST OF THE TECHNIQUE AND CONTENTS OF THE ANSWER REMAINS ABSOLUTELY THE SAME SEE THE EXAMPLE BELOW

Q.1. Choose any two of the following Hadiths, and:
       a. describe their teachings about what Muslims believe.             [4]
       b. explain how Muslims can put these teachings into action.       [4]
